Pressure Reducing Stations; Systems Subject to Varying Supply Pressure
Fully open position
When upstream pressure dropsthe pilot blocks the supplypressure port and opens the drainport, venting the control chamberto the atmosphere.This fully opensthe valve, minimizing head loss.
Modulating to close
The pilot switches upon pres-surerise, blocking the drainport andopening the supplypressure port.This pressurizesthe control chamber,forcingthe valve to modulate closed.
Locked position
When sensed pressure is equal tosetting, the pilot blocks both thedrain and the supply pressureports.This locks the pressure inthe control chamber, freezingvalve opening in its last positionuntil conditions change.
